Friday is Canarian Day!
In Spain each region (or autonomous community) has its own special day, the 30th May is when the Canary Islands celebrates its special day, known as “El Día de Canarias” or Canarian Day. Various events take place in the islands to celebrate this day and it is also a “bank holiday”. This of course means that head office in Santa Cruz will be closed whilst the hard working staff in Los Gigantes and Caleta de Fuste carry on as usual (and it’s changeover day at The Harbour Club).
In Fuerteventura, the Antigua District Council has organised various activities in the public square of Caleta de Fuste and in Tenerife, in Santiago del Teide’s public square there will be various activities to extol the customs and cultural heritage of the community.
There will be a street market as well as workshops, exhibitions and various folk groups as well as a Dessert Competition from 1pm.
